Nacho's work in Colombia!

Did you know that every time you buy a book at in the United States, you help to donate books in Colombia?

That's how it is! For each Nacho book you buy, one is donated in Colombia and these books are tools for children to become literate, learn to read and write through reading workshops.

In December 2021, more than 70 books were donated to the Patio Cultural Macon2 foundation in Barranquilla, Colombia, such as: ‘El jardín de los cuentos volumen 1 y 2’, ‘Nacho inglés’, Nacho matemáticas’, ‘Nacho dibuja’ and ‘Nacho escribe. With this delivery it is possible to carry out more reading workshops, which are held every Saturday from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm and 60 children from 5 to 14 years old participate.

These workshops are held so that the participating children love books and adhere to reading, because in addition to reading, various activities are carried out to make this possible, such as, for example, storybooks are placed on a table best known in children's literature, such as Rin Rin Renacuajo, Little Red Riding Hood, The Little Prince, The Three Little Pigs, among others; It is always sought that the reading is from a book that has a teaching that applies to them, such as: obedience protects us, bad company hurts us, etc. Then the book to read is chosen by vote and 5 readers are also chosen, who will read by changing voices and the others listen carefully; At the end of the reading, reading comprehension questions are asked and practical lessons are taken.

Another activity is to find new words for the children, and they are asked what they think those words mean. In addition, painting is mixed with writing, developing a space for creativity, since they draw something and create a story according to the drawing made. Likewise, oral narration is worked on by dramatizing the stories.

All this is done so that children have the opportunity to learn new things more and more and have fun discovering new worlds through reading.
